The screen is overall very good. The lower black section is acoustically transparent (perforated), allowing you to place speakers behind it. It also includes a modern looking remote, wall mount brackets, carbon fiber support strips, etc
One thing to note is that after the first few uses when retracting the screen, there is a noticeable “new screen” smell. It can be fairly strong at first, but it dissipates after about a week of use. No big deal.
Customer support has been excellent and responsive, and they are certain to resolve any issues.
I tested the screen with multiple projectors. Using an ultra short throw projector with one of the shortest throw ratios available, the LG HU85LA, I noticed significant laser speckle hotspotting (a shiny, sparkling effect) within the pink colors of the user interface. This was extremely distracting. Because of this, I would recommend avoiding UST projectors with older triple laser technology, and stick with a single laser or newer triple laser technology.
Laser speckle is typically associated with triple laser projectors, however I have tested with the vava 4k single laser, and it's still present, while extremely minimal and only visible in bright white scenes. Think of it as a shiny shimmering texture, that resembles film grain that's shiny or glittery. The best resemblance to what speckle looks like that I can think of is if you turned your phone brightness to Max, put a white background and slowly tilt phone back and forth looking for spots that have excessive skin oil. This suggests the issue may be related to the screen material itself. I believe a more matte finish, rather than the current shinier surface, might help reduce or eliminate this effect. With modern triple laser UST projectors the speckle is still present but much more subtle. Its uniformly present through out the screen. It tends to be more noticeable in bright scenes (especially whites) much like the single laser experience, but in most typical viewing situations, it’s difficult to see unless you’re actively looking for it. Within a streaming device user interface, you can see speckle within certain colors like reds being most visible. Your average consumer probably won't notice it at all to be honest. The kind of people that buy a new tv and don't notice the high motion smooth settings set on default giving off the soap opera effect, and continue watching movies that way...That's my experience with the NexiGo Aurora Pro MKII. I'm not happy with the laser speckle, but that's an issue with all the floor rising screens at the moment.
I wouldn’t say the following claim definitively, but it’s something to keep in mind, the laser speckle seemed more pronounced during initial use and may lessen slightly over time.
In terms of build quality, the screen is not perfectly flat, there is slight bending near the edges, as shown in my photos. That said, it’s still good overall, and I doubt other floor rising screens perform significantly better in this regard.
For future improvements, I’d prioritize:
-Reducing or eliminating laser speckle (this is the biggest drawback)
-Improving overall flatness and edge straightness to minimize the need for keystone correction.
-Adding a save height function on the remote, so users can preset and to a specific screen height (helpful for eliminating bottom gaps during setup)
Lastly, I hope the tensioning system holds up well over time without developing edge curling, waves, or other defects
The screen is is very good and the service are good.
Thank you
Amazing screen. Contrast and brightness are phenomenal! Customer service is accommodating and helpful!
Package very well. Delivered in timely manner. Great looking screen. Only issue is the direction. They are all over the place. Had to search.to fine the next step. Also some direction could not be found. Took some time but finally got it. Screen well made and looks great. Very please so far.
My projector is not only bulky (Epson LS500) but required a distance of 21" from the wall. Pulling my media cabinets out that far was unsightly, and I temporarily put the projector on a small mobile compter table. This was not ideal either as pets and household members would constantly knock the table requiring me to realign the projector.
After researching various motorized projector trays with the longest extended tray, NP's product fit my needs perfectly.
Setup was relatively easy. The tray is pretty heavy and back of cabinet was the flimsy backer board so as a precaution and a nessessity, I reenforced the back of the cabinet with a piece of thick wood to attach the smaller L brackets to ( also comes with wall brackets if you wish to go that route). After setting the min and max tray output and attaching the USB cable to my projector, it was ready to use.
Using ARC, I can now press one button on my remote and not only power on my AV unit, but also power on the projector which in turn auto slides out the tray to my predetermined setting.
Wish I had purchased this years ago.
Using with Epson 5050ub—very happy! My old plain white screen without ALR required a dark room. This cost more than twice as much but looks incredible even in a lit room. If you're investing in a good projector, don't skimp on the screen!
The blacks are dark and the colors are vivid. Little reflection on my white ceiling and white walls. Huge upgrade over my Matte white screen!!!
The Black Series screen works amazingly well in natural light or with room lights on. Great color, great picture! Yes, it's on the expensive side, but the quality justifies the cost. I'd buy it again without hesitation!
Great quality screen. It looks like a big TV and the quality of its image is amazing. I’m using it with Epson 5040UB.
Amazing doesn't even begin to describe it! Using it with Optoma UHD60 and the picture is phenomenal. Compared to a white wall, the difference is completely jaw-dropping. Picture is beyond clear 4K. People thought it was a TV—couldn't believe it was projection!
It wasn't fun to assemble but also wasn't difficult. I expected it to take time. Instructions were straightforward. My Dad and I assembled it in about an hour, then spent another 20 minutes getting it mounted and level on the wall.
Instructions aren't perfect but manageable for anyone with basic assembly experience. The finished product is beautiful. Seller contacted me multiple times to follow up and is very reachable.
The image quality achieved on this screen is impressive. The surface is uniform and ensures excellent image representation, whether I use a projector for movies or presentations. The 16:9 format fits perfectly for most modern films and series, which was particularly important to me.
I recently bought this and was much better, smoother than I was expecting, it is well packaged, easy to install and feels much large. The picture quality is excellent with crispy images. Great for a large screen viewing experience.. movie nights or sports events.
The screen is a showstopper! As is the up and down rolling function! Hereby after several months of use, 5 stars out of conviction!
Assembly wasn't the simplest but also not too difficult. Took about an hour total from start to finish and it was up on the wall. Worth the effort!
Extremely happy with this upgrade! At 100 inches, this projector screen is better than any TV. Absolutely love the improvement!
The screen itself looks fantastic. Using it with a Sony 4K projector under 2000 lumens, and the grey screen really makes images sharp and vibrant even with ambient light. Big improvement in picture quality!
What I also like is the flexibility that the remote control offers. It's pleasant to be able to operate the screen from anywhere in the room without having to go to the device itself. It still operates smoothly and evenly even after extended use.
I purchased the Nothingprojector Motorized Screen with 16:9 format for my home theater and am very satisfied overall with this purchase. Since I put it into operation, it has significantly enhanced my home theater experience.
